Matter World

Matter to build, matter to destroy.

Nothing here is scenery. Every wall, every bridge, every pyramid is made of truly simulated cubes. Plant a charge, fire the cannon, open a black hole: the structure cracks, gives way and really collapses, and every piece of rubble stays on the map.

Build alone or together, then blow it all up. Free, with a Google or Microsoft account.

Game modes

Destroy. Build. Repeat.

Solo or online, every game leaves the map different: you decide what stays standing.

  • Armed destruction

Hand, pistol, submachine gun, shotgun, cannon, lightsaber and shovel. The cubes you tear off become your ammo: the map itself is your arsenal.

  • Mystery blocks and boosts

Mystery blocks fall from the sky: a weapon you lack, ammo or a boost. Boosts stack, pushing fire rate, speed and shot size up to ×3.

  • Impulse and black hole explosives

The impulse explosive blasts everything around it. The black hole pulls matter in for two seconds before it implodes. Plant, step back, enjoy.

  • Building, solo or together

Shapes, furniture, decoration, plants, military gear, vehicles, and the shovel to dig: build alone or with friends in the same room.

  • Multiplayer rooms

Up to 4 players per room, in destruction or building, with teams, live scores and a public leaderboard. A free seat? You are in with one click.

  • Your maps, and AI-made ones

Every map is a plain file: edit it, share it, or describe your own in one sentence and let the AI build it for you.

Why Matter World is unique

Physics you have never seen in a shooter

Our engine simulates the whole map, cube by cube, right on the GPU. The result: destruction that never cheats.

  • Every cube is simulated

No painted scenery, no pre-baked collapse: terrain, buildings, vehicles and avatars are made of 10 cm cubes, simulated in real time on your graphics card.

  • Real cantilever breaks

Undermine the base of a tower, cut a span: whatever is no longer supported breaks under its own weight, right where it should, and falls.

  • Expansion joints

Like real structures, the Louvre, the Bridges and the fortified valley are split into independent blocks: one pavilion collapses, its neighbour stays up.

  • Nothing disappears

Rubble stays, piles up and can be picked up as ammo. Matter is counted all the time: not a single cube is ever lost.

  • Build, then destroy

Build the perfect fortress, then switch to destruction and put it to the test, alone or with friends. Then start again.

  • An avatar made of cubes

Your avatar has 300 cubes in 6 parts. A torn-off arm falls and stays on the ground; lose your head or torso and you respawn.

In action

Bring the giants down

The suspension bridge of the Bridges, cut against the west bank by two black holes, falls into the gorge in one piece.

The Bridges

Cut the bridge, watch the span plunge

A 28 m gorge, two fortresses and three bridges: a wooden suspension bridge, a two-arch stone bridge and a steel walkway. Blow up a pier: the unsupported span breaks under its own weight and falls to the bottom of the gorge.

  • Expansion joints between spans, houses, towers and curtain walls.
  • Stilt houses above the void, to topple one by one.
The Louvre's Napoleon Courtyard: three black holes and an impulse explosive open the facade of the Clock Pavilion; a small pyramid is gone.

Black hole explosive

Swallow a whole wall

The charge pulls in the matter around it for two seconds, then implodes. What it tears away turns into debris, which you can pick up as ammo.

  • Found in mystery blocks, along with impulse explosives.
  • Positional sound: you hear an implosion from 100 m away.

Maps

Seven battlefields to raze

Every map ships with the game, fully destructible from the ground up.

And every map you will invent

Maps are plain files. Ask your favourite AI to write one with the guide shipped in the game, or buy AI map credits and simply describe yours: it shows up in “My maps” as soon as it is ready.

Performance

Measured, not promised

These figures were measured on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080. They give an order of magnitude, not a guarantee for your setup.

Cube conservation is checked continuously, and hundreds of automated tests make sure, among other things, that no cube passes through a wall.

Optional: in PowerShell, compute the SHA-256 of the installer and compare it with the one shown here.

    Get-FileHash .\matter-world-setup.exe -Algorithm SHA256
  • Windows warning

The installer is not signed: Windows SmartScreen may show “Windows protected your PC”. Choose “More info”, then “Run anyway”, only for an installer downloaded from this site.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is the game free?

Yes. Matter World is free; optional purchases, such as AI map credits, are offered in the shop. It is proprietary software published by MethodInfo. Sign in with Google or Microsoft (Hotmail / Outlook) to download it.

Which modes and maps?

Destruction and building, solo or multiplayer (4-player rooms), on seven bundled maps: the Bridges, the Louvre, the fortified valley, the lunar crater, the Martian valley, the fortified front and the two castle mottes, plus your own map files. The game evolves with every release.

Is my graphics card compatible?

You need a Vulkan or DirectX 12 capable card, ideally with 2 GB of free video memory. The game was tested on NVIDIA GeForce cards from the GTX 980 to the RTX 5090; AMD and Intel cards remain to be validated. See the requirements.

Is there a macOS or Linux version?

No. Only a 64-bit Windows version is offered and tested.

How do I create my own maps?

In the game, the “My maps” tab explains both ways: have your favourite AI write the map with the guide provided, or spend your AI map credits by describing the map in a few sentences.

Windows shows a warning at launch. Is that normal?

Yes: the installer is not signed, so Windows SmartScreen and some antivirus tools are wary of it. Check the SHA-256 of the installer, then choose “More info” and “Run anyway”. All the details are in the Download section.

The game does not start.

First update your graphics driver. If the problem persists, report it to MethodInfo with your graphics card and Windows version.

How do I uninstall the game?

Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps → Matter World → Uninstall. Your settings, maps and sign-in (folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\MatterWorld) are kept: delete that folder to erase them too.
