Controller and purposes
MethodInfo controls the processing of your Matter World account. Your Google or Microsoft identifier, display name and email, when supplied, are used to create and secure your account and manage orders (performance of the contract). The provider identifier, rather than your email alone, identifies your account. We never receive your Google or Microsoft password.
Order and payment data
We store order references, products, prices, payment status, the accepted terms version, acquired rights and Stripe customer, payment and invoice identifiers. Stripe receives the information needed for payment and invoicing; card details are handled by Stripe. The billing address you enter in “My profile” is stored directly at Stripe, on your customer record, and is not kept in our database; it appears on your invoices. If you delete your account without ever having paid for an order, this customer record is deleted at Stripe; after a payment, it is kept with the accounting records. Accounting records are retained to meet legal obligations.
Player name, statistics and the game
To play online you choose a player name. It is public: other players see it in game, on the leaderboard and on your profile (/en/player/<name>), together with the month your account was created, your multiplayer statistics (games, wins, score, kills, deaths, play time, cubes destroyed, shots, explosives, ammo dug, objects placed, per map and in total) and your match history, which shows the names of the other players. Your email address, your Google or Microsoft display name, your sign-in provider and your account identifier are never published. Profiles are not offered for indexing by search engines. These statistics are recorded by the multiplayer server during games (legitimate interest: running online play and its leaderboard); solo play records nothing. When you connect the game, the PC keeps a sign-in token encrypted for your Windows session; the service only keeps a fingerprint of it, valid for 90 days after its last use. You can sign a PC out from the game or from your account.
You can delete your account from the Account page: your player name, statistics, sessions and game tokens are erased and the account is anonymised. Your matches stay in other players’ histories as “deleted account”, without any link to you. Orders and invoices are kept for accounting obligations.
Recipients and hosting
Data is accessible to authorised MethodInfo personnel and the providers needed to operate the service. Accounts and orders are stored in the service’s PostgreSQL database. Google or Microsoft handles the sign-in you choose; Stripe handles payments under its own privacy commitments. Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area using applicable safeguards described in their policies. Hosting details appear with the publisher’s details in the terms.
Cookies and retention
A strictly necessary session cookie keeps you signed in for up to seven days. Sign-in attempts expire after ten minutes. We use no advertising cookies. A cookieless audience measurement (Umami, hosted by MethodInfo at stats.methodinfo.fr) counts, in aggregate, page views, the referring page, country, browser, operating system and device type; it sets no cookie, does not keep your IP address and does not follow you from site to site (legitimate interest: knowing how the site is visited). Account data is kept while your account exists, then deleted or anonymised on request, unless legal obligations or the defence of a legal claim require retention. Invoices and accounting records are kept for ten years. Technical logs are limited to security and operational needs.
Your rights
You may request access, correction, erasure, portability or restriction, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. To exercise your rights or close your account, contact MethodInfo through its official website and identify your account. Proportionate identity verification may be needed. Deletion does not remove records legally required to be kept. You may also complain to the CNIL.
