What is new in Matter World
The main changes of each version of the game. The installed game updates itself when it starts: nothing to download again.
Version 1.0.201 · November 1, 2026
Challenges
- In the Princess challenge, the great hall’s door and the door of her bedroom open again: two rugs were blocking them.
Version 1.0.200 · November 1, 2026
Challenges
- The Princess challenge now takes place in a furnished Renaissance castle: a long way from door to door (vestibule, great hall, ballroom, gallery, library, keep) up to her bedroom, then you must bring her back out to the garden. She follows you once you reach her. Fourteen fires break out on the way there and back; 6 minutes, wins count from 45 seconds.
Fire
- Burning cubes now burn the avatars that come close: crossing a fire costs health, staying in a blaze kills in about twenty seconds.
Object library
- New Chandelier object: gilded, eight candles, lit by default.
- Animals can now follow the player: they walk the player’s path, through doors and up stairs.
Version 1.0.199 · October 31, 2026
Challenges
- New Maze challenge: reach the heart of a large maze as fast as possible, through hedge gardens, brick courtyards and indoor sections. Mystery blocks hidden in dead ends give grenades to blast shortcuts.
- New Princess challenge: rescue the princess from a burning keep, with the fire hose as the only weapon.
- In the Wooden castle challenge, wins now count towards rankings and gold cube rewards from 10 seconds, down from 30.
Weapons
- An object thrown by a weapon now flies as a projectile: it bounces and breaks instead of being placed where it lands.
- When a weapon cannot fire or an object cannot be placed for lack of materials, a message at the bottom of the screen states exactly how many cubes are missing.
Version 1.0.197 · October 31, 2026
Challenges
- In the Platform course and Quarry challenges, wins now count towards rankings and gold cube rewards from 10 seconds, down from 15.
Version 1.0.196 · October 31, 2026
Weapons and fire
- The flamethrower now affects opponents: it blackens their avatar and damages them from the first hit.
- The fire hose pushes opponents away without damaging them.
- Areas extinguished with water turn dark grey, making it clear where the fire has been put out.
Administration portal
- A library object’s file can be edited directly in the “File” tab, with a 3D preview and errors displayed before saving.
Version 1.0.195 · October 31, 2026
Fire
- The wooden castle collapses once its stilts have burnt: the fire carries on in the parts that move instead of stopping there, and the castle no longer stays up in the air.
- A falling ember goes out as it lands: no more cubes that stay red for ever.
Shop and leaderboards
- In the game’s and the website’s shop, weapons on sale show their 3D figure.
- The leaderboards have a “Challenges” mode beside destruction and construction: each shipped challenge has its board of best times.
Version 1.0.193 · October 31, 2026
Challenges
- New challenge: Quarry, the second course, which opens after the Platform course. Blow up the brick walls with grenades (a mystery block before each one gives three), dig through the scree with the shovel, and run across the footbridge: as soon as you step on it, a rock breaks loose and brings it down. Three lives, four minutes.
- The challenges now follow each other in this order: the bunker, the building, the platform course, the quarry, the wooden castle, the last stand.
Maps
- The F9 key loads the default map (the fortified valley).
- Map makers: a challenge can set off an event when the player enters a zone (a message, then, after a delay, a zone whose cubes lose their bonds: whatever nothing holds any more falls). See the map format, “Events” section.
Version 1.0.192 · October 31, 2026
Fire
- No more slow motion under fire: a fire, even a large one, no longer slows the game down (the “RALENTI” warning); what burnt collapses in waves, twice a second.
- Fire is faster: a burning cube turns red after about 1.5 s, sets its neighbours alight at once and stays red for about 6 s.
- Large fires no longer die out by themselves: everything that catches fire burns to the end.
Explosive objects
- A booby-trapped object placed during a game (the exploding pumpkin…) explodes 2 s after it lands, like a grenade.
- A charge that waits (a map’s booby-trapped object, a C4 not yet detonated) no longer slows the game down.
Version 1.0.190 · October 30, 2026
Challenges
- Scoreboard times are displayed to hundredths of a second.
- Challenge rankings are also available on the website’s Leaderboard page.
- The Course now accepts wins from 15 seconds for rankings and gold cubes.
Version 1.0.188 · October 30, 2026
Weapons
- The flamethrower and the fire hose are now weapons like the others: they follow the list of the weapons online, in games as in the map editor (the contents of a placed mystery block).
- Shop: a “Weapons” tile on the menu’s lower line; a weapon you already have is no longer offered, and an object or a weapon already bought reads “Already owned”.
Fire
- Wood and leaves catch fire at a flame’s third pass.
- Half the charred cubes turn to ash: burnt buildings collapse.
Challenges
- At the end of a challenge, a world ranking table of the best times, and the screen proposes the next challenge.
- Flight is disabled in every challenge.
Version 1.0.187 · October 30, 2026
Challenges
- Rankings: at the end of a challenge, the screen gives your place among your own wins, and your place in the global ranking of every player’s best time. Every game of a shipped challenge is timed; beyond the 5 rewarded games, they no longer earn gold cubes.
- Last stand: the bots play together against you instead of fighting each other, vehicles cannot be built during the challenge, and the scene is a little brighter.
Fire
- A burning cube stays red for about ten seconds, then it is charred: black for good, it burns no more and its bonds give way. Whatever is no longer held collapses into rubble.
- About one burning cube in ten has flames five times taller, and one in ten a great plume of dark smoke.
Version 1.0.186 · October 30, 2026
Challenges
- Last stand: a challenge in two phases. 2 minutes to fortify the top of a bare hill, then 2 min 30 to hold it against four bots climbing from the plain. It is won if you are still on the plateau at the end, lost at the first death. You start with a submachine gun, 300 stones and 4 grenades; six mystery blocks fall as the assault begins.
- The challenges follow each other: each one opens once the one before it is won on this PC. A challenge still closed shows a padlock.
- Wooden castle: the flamethrower is the only weapon, without the hand or the shovel.
- The suspension bridge challenge is removed; the map of The Bridges and its bridge are unchanged.
Fire and objects
- Fire is stronger: tongues of flame, a thicker smoke that lasts longer. The flamethrower’s flames no longer vanish after a few seconds in a large fire.
- Library objects can hide charges, which go off when an explosion or fire reaches them, and wood that burns from the start of the game: enough for an exploding pumpkin.
Weapons and shop
- Weapons for sale: some weapons are bought once and for all with gold cubes, in the “Weapons” tab of the game’s shop or on the website. Their buyer holds them at the start of every destruction game; no block gives them.
- Mystery blocks can also give the flamethrower and the fire hose.
- A map can take weapons away: they are neither held at the start nor drawn by a block.
Version 1.0.182 · October 30, 2026
Fire and water
- Flamethrower: a cone of flame that blackens surfaces. Wood and leaves, trees included, catch fire: the cube smokes, turns red, sets its wooden or leafy neighbours alight, then is gone. Nothing else burns.
- Fire hose: a jet of water that puts out the burning cubes it reaches.
- Both weapons ship with the game; a map gives them through a block it places.
Challenges
- Wooden castle: a wooden keep on stilts; bring down 60% of it in 3 minutes with the flamethrower.
- Platform course: 248 m of platforms, jumps and lava pits up to the final flagpole; falls are deadly and flying is off.
- Suspension bridge: bring down the wooden suspension bridge over the gorge of The Bridges, with the lightsaber of a mystery block. It replaces the camper challenge.
Maps and weapons
- The Bridges: the gorge is a third as deep (9.6 m instead of 28 m).
- The weapon in hand follows the aim up and down; the saber is 30% longer, in the team’s colours.
- Weapons published by the server can combine several different shots, dig like the shovel, and throw an ammunition, an explosive or an object.
- The briefing card at the start of a game shows for 5 s, at the top of the screen.
Version 1.0.179 · October 29, 2026
Destruction
- Bridges and spans: a deck, a floor or a beam held between two supports gives way in bending when it is too long or too heavy for its material. A bridge that loses a pier collapses: in the fortified valley, blowing up a pier brings down the arches it carried.
- Wood: much stronger in tension, it holds long spans and can reinforce a stone or masonry build. Shots break it as before.
- Some builds of the maps, too long for their material, may now give way at the first shot that touches them.
Combat and rules
- Fall damage: nothing up to 6 m; beyond, a fall takes two of the avatar’s lowest cubes per metre (two at 7 m, six at 9.5 m), instead of a certain death beyond 8 m.
- At the start of every game, a card tells for 10 s the mode, who plays, the objective and how to reach it.
- Bots wear random first names followed by “(bot)”.
Friends and multiplayer
- My account › My friends: add players by their username; your friends’ games come first on the Multiplayer screen and in the main menu.
- New private game: a room for your friends only.
- Community maps: the bots offered follow the map’s player limit, and capture the flag is offered on those with teams.
Weapons and shop
- Weapons are published by the server: new weapons can appear without a game update (throws side by side or fanned, explosive throws, digging, blade).
- A map made by AI costs 5 gold cubes.
Version 1.0.178 · October 29, 2026
Combat and rules
- Vital point: every avatar has a vital cube at the heart of its head. Once destroyed, it kills at once (“Head shot”).
- Fall damage: nothing up to 3 m, then feet and legs lost more and more up to 8 m; beyond 8 m, the fall kills. Never in a vehicle, nor while spawn invincibility lasts.
- Elimination replaces “100 kills”: the goal follows the number of players in the game, bots included (15 kills with two players, 60 with eight). The scoreboard shows it.
- A map started from the main menu opens a game with a rule drawn at random: capture the flag (on a map with teams) or Elimination.
- Mystery blocks: a new tier every 2 minutes instead of 5; with two players or more, they fall twice as often and twice as many can lie on the map.
- Team colours no longer include black, which was hard to see.
- In solo games, bots wear the server’s bot avatars.
Avatars, weapons and vehicles
- The weapon held is drawn in the avatar’s right hand, for you, your bots and the other players.
- The turret of the tank and of the light armoured car turns toward the aim, and other players see it turn.
- A fast projectile no longer bores through settled rubble behind loose debris: it hits the pile and wakes it. Walls are still pierced.
- On foot, the avatar pushes debris as a vehicle does: a piece lighter than itself moves whole, and what lies on an avatar or a vehicle is lifted too when it turns or rises in place.
Maps
- The two castle mottes: the entrance gates of both baileys now open (E on the gate).
- Fortified front: the craters of no man’s land no longer cut into the barbed wire.
- Lunar crater and the two castle mottes: spawn points fixed, at least 20 m away from the other team, with ground under the whole avatar.
- Fortified valley: up to 32 mystery blocks, two of them placed from the start in each castle’s courtyard: they give the cannon or steel cubes for it. Portcullises can be worked by aiming through their grille.
Building
- Ctrl+Y redoes the last undo, in solo games as in rooms.
Shop
- Avatars: larger previews and a detailed view where the avatar turns, with its size, walk, run, jump, resistance, starting weapons and boosts, set against the humanoid’s.
- Objects: each object of the library shows its 3D model turning.
- “Other”: make an AI map from the shop, in the game as on the website; it arrives in Solo › My maps, and the website also lets you download it.
- An “Online shop” link opens the website’s shop on the same category.
Interface
- The hints at the bottom of the destruction view go away after 30 s of play; Settings › Controls › Hints keeps them.
- My maps › Create a map: the gold cube balance sits on the title’s line.
- When the object tool is chosen, it alone is highlighted.
